History of the Previous Versions of the ICOASE Conferences
The 1st ICOASE is the ICOASE 2018, the starting point to establish a series of conferences organized by the University of Zakho and Duhok Polytechnic University and sponsored by the IEEE section in Iraq with all standards of international conference organization as seen with the following link.

The conference date is October 9th-11th, 2018. The first day of the conference was held at the conference hall in Duhok City. The 2nd and 3rd days of the conference were held at the University of Zakho, Faculty of Science halls, Zakho City at University of Zakho. The conference involves national and international scientists and researchers working together within the umbrella of the ICOASE community. A keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, participated in a speech on the Impact of Higher Education Institutions on Stability, Social Peace, and Security in the Kurdistan Region – IRAQ. The publication quality is also achieved via the EDAS system submission system and blind review with thorough monitoring by the IEEE section. The number of papers presented at the conference is 94 after a thorough blind review. All 94 papers are published in IEEExplore, accessed at

The 2nd International Conference on Advanced Science and Engineering 2019 (ICOASE2019) is technically sponsored by IEEE, which the IEEE Iraq Section represents, and jointly organized by the University of Zakho and Duhok Polytechnic University. The conference was held on the 1st day (April 02, 2019) at the Conference Hall, Faculty of Science, University of Zakho, Zakho City, Iraq. The 2nd & 3RD days (April 03-04, 2019) were held at Duhok Polytechnic University Halls, Duhok City, Iraq. Details about the conference ICOASE 2019 can be found through the following link;

The number of papers presented at the conference is 63 papers with four keynote speakers Prof. Dr. Parosh A. Abdulla (THE QUEST FOR THE CORRECTNESS OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS: THE PROGRAM VERIFICATION APPROACH), Prof. Dr. Gustavo R. Alves(CONTRIBUTION OF REMOTE LABS TO ENGINEERING EDUCATION), DR.RER.NAT. RIYADH QASHI (SECURITY IN THE INTERNET OF THINGS), and Prof. Dr. Eng. Sattar B. Sadkhan (COGNITION AND THE FUTURE OF INFORMATION SECURITY). All 52 papers are published in IEEEXplore which can be accessed at;

The other 12 papers that did not fit the scope of IEEE were published in a Springer-edited book entitled “Recent Researches in Earth and Environmental Sciences”. The book covers a wide range of questions. It gives advanced themes on current research focusing on emerging environmental issues and challenges in chemistry, biology, physics, and related areas in geoscience with their applications. It is part of the Proceeding of the 2nd International Conference on Advanced Science and Engineering 2019 (ICOASE2019) Zakho-Duhok, Kurdistan Region—Iraq, April 2–4, 2019 that can be accessed at;

During COVID-19, the 3rd ICOASE was the ICOASE 2020 in virtual form. The conference is technically sponsored by IEEE, which the IEEE Iraq Section represents, and jointly organized by the University of Zakho and Duhok Polytechnic University. Two keynote speakers have participated. Prof. Dr. Bayan Mahdi Sabbar with a speech on “Applications of Digital Signal Processing in all Sciences and Prof. Dr. Eng. Abdulkadir Şengür with speech Exploring Deep Learning Features for Automatic Classification of Human Emotion Using Eeg Rhythms. The publication quality is also achieved via the EDAS system submission system and blind review with thorough monitoring by the IEEE section. Ninety-five papers were submitted, and only 44 were accepted. Scopus-indexed publication has been achieved through the publication of 38 papers included at the IEEEXplore that can be accessed through the following link;

Moreover, another opportunity was also provided through the Science Journal of the University of Zakho, which published the remaining six papers.
The last version of the ICOASE series is the 4th ICOASE2022. The 4th International Conference on Advanced Science and Engineering 2022 (4th ICOASE). The conference is technically sponsored by IEEE, which the IEEE Iraq Section represents. The University of Zakho, Duhok Polytechnic University, and Northern Technical University jointly organize the conference. The conference date is September 21st to 22nd, 2022. The first day of the conference will be held at the Faculty of Science of the University of Zakho, Zakho City. The 2nd day of the conference will be held at the Technical College of Administration halls at Duhok Polytechnic University, Zirka, Duhok City.

All 130 submitted papers are subjected to double-blind peer review and critical evaluation by conference committees. Acceptance decisions have been taken according to paper novelty, technical depth, and relevance to the conference scope. The conference operation department submits accepted papers (71) to either the IEEE Xplore digital library, American Institute of Physics (AIP), Science Journal of the University of Zakho, and Journal of Life and Bio-sciences Research (JLBSR) for publication and indexing. Two keynote speakers participated: Prof. Dr. Saad Talib Hasson Aljebori with his speech Modelling the Behaviour of THE WIRELESS LINEAR SENSOR NETWORKS and Dr. Obed Majeed Ali with his speech ENGINEERING APPLICATION OF BIOENERGY SYSTEMS, DEVELOPMENTS & CHALLENGES.
